Now I know what type of turtle I have but still unknown remained its gender. I also didn't know anything about red eared slider turtles. According to the YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH_wZ3xjqpw which I found very useful and interesting, these turtles are common pets and grow to be quite big. I also learned how to determine the gender of my turtle after watching this video–by looking at my turtle's claws which are fairly short I found my turtle is actually a female. (I was sure it was a male–oops.)
I'm glad you finally figured out what gender your turtle is. Looking at their claws was the only thing that worked for me when "sexing" turtles at work. Did you have to rename her or anything after you found out, or was it a universal name from the start?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the name thing too. How long do they live? Is she hard to care for? I know nothing about turtles.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cool how you can tell the gender of a turtle by looking at its claws. I wonder why the male needs longer claws than the female
ReplyDeleteYour turtle is beautiful, I love turtles because of "Finding Nemo". By any chance do you actually know how long yours can live up for? I've heard turtles live a long time unfortunately mine died. I think now that you watch and observe and take note of your turtle it will be something you won't forget. It's pretty awesome how by looking at their claws you can tell their sex.
ReplyDeleteSo do you know exactly the age of your turtle? It seems pretty small and just like Farias, I want to know how long they get to live. You might just have that turtle the rest of your life if you take good care of it.
